Jahan Dotson was a 4 star recruit coming out of Nazareth High School in Pennsylvania. He had multiple offers coming out of high school from Alabama, Ohio State, Clemson, UCLA, Penn State, and many more. Ultimately, he choose to stay close to home and go to Penn State.
Dotson was the 36th overall WR in the 2018 recruiting class and the 192nd overall prospect. He played 4 seasons at Penn State but didn’t make a huge impact until his junior year when he was featured as a WR1.
In his Junior year he had a breakout game against Ohio State where he totaled 8 receptions, 144 yards, and 3 touchdowns. After the 2021 season he sat out the Outback bowl, ending his time at Penn State and looking forward to the NFL Draft.
Dotson definitely finished with an amazing collegiate career. He finishes at Penn State: 2nd in Career (25) and single-season (12 in 2021) for touchdowns, 4th all time in receiving yards (2,757), and 2nd all time in receiving yards (1,182) in a single season. Dotson is also 2nd in both career (183) and single season (91 in 2021) receptions. Finally, he holds the record for the most receiving yards in a single game with 242 yards. He definitely left his mark in Penn State History. Jahan also received invites to the Senior Bowl in 2022 as well as the 2022 NFL Combine.

Jahan Dotson: Attributes
Hands: Jahan Dotson has amazing hands and only had 2 drops his last year at Penn State on 138 targets. He is a quarterback’s best friend. Passers have a 111.9 QB rating when he has been targeted over his career. As well he makes really difficult catches look easy.
Route Running: His route running is good but definitely could use some work in the pros. He has a great first step off the line to shake corners in college but could be a little bit of a challenge in the NFL. He definitely showed separation with his accelerations and hesitation moves off the line. This could need to be worked on because bigger defensive backs could knock him off his route because of his smaller frame.
Catch Point: Has exceptional ball tracking skills especially on deep routes and good timing on 50/50 balls. As I said earlier, he makes difficult catches look easy.
Speed: Has respectable speed even though he only posted a 4.43 40yd Dash. He can get up field really quick and create space when the ball is in his hands. He plays with speed so he can be explosive when he gets the ball.
Release: Jahan Dotson may be the best receiver off the line in this draft. Has a burst moving up field and his footwork off the line is impressive. He has shown he can create space quickly.

Projected Round: 2nd Round
Overall
Jahan Dotson is a wide receiver many people may over look because of his size. I truly think he could be one of the next really productive receivers in the NFL. He has tremendous speed and if he could tune up the route running so it won’t be as easy for bigger DB’s to knock him off his route, he could be a problem in the NFL. It wouldn’t surprise me at all to see Dotson go in the first round, but as deep as this WR class is this year, he has fallen. Any other year and this guy would be in the top 3 for receivers.
